Early Orthodontic Intervention
The AAO recommends an orthodontic consultation no later than age 7. While not all children need early treatment, some children benefit greatly with early intervention. Certain malocclusions, such as crowding or a crossbite, can be more easily corrected at an earlier age. Dr. Nic can evaluate your child's occlusion to determine whether early intervention is indicated or if treatment can wait until more permanent teeth are present. Early intervention appliances can guide jaw growth, lower the risk of trauma due to protruded front teeth, guide permanent teeth into a more favorable position, and can improve your child's appearance and self-esteem.
